About our Founder Nicci - Personal Trainer & Movement Coach

Picture
Hey Im Nicci, I am a born and bred Northland girl, having lived in Whangarei since she was 4 years old on a dairy farm out West Whangarei. From a very young age I have being involved in many different sports, including netball, touch rugby, tennis, surfing, squash, badminton, basketball and more. My background is actually Planning, having worked at the local Council for a number of years as a Policy Planner, however I have always had a massive interest in exercise and nutrition. My love of exercise and healthy living led me to a change in profession and to study personal training. After completing my study in Personal Training, I undertook many further education courses, including, Movement Coaching, Ph360 Health Coach, Certificate in Power Plate Training, and Loaded Movement.

I am known for my holistic approach in the personal training industry, as I don't believe one size fits all, offering a multitude of fitness and wellness options for my clients. There is a focus on lifestyle rather than just exercise; along with genuine care and always wanting the best for my clients. I offer many different options available for personal training and group fitness, to ensure my clients have fun, work up a sweat, and get the results they are after.

I have such a passion for working with people with chronic pain and movement dysfunctions, using a myofascial movement appraisal system, like a detective of the body, to work out what is going on, and guiding my clients through movement to keep them safe with the ultimate goal of being pain free.

In May 2018, I started working for Fit Fix under the mentorship and guidance of Corinne Austin whilst in the process of completing my personal training certificate through Fit College. In this short time, I have had a complete transformation in terms of the place I see movement and exercise holding for our world, and what it means to be a health and movement professional. I was once in the ‘go hard or go home’ camp – I myself would exercise 2-3 times a day, and I’d give it everything. I would thrash my body – because that’s what I understood would get me results; I now know this may not have been the most sustainable approach for my body long term. This transformation came about through two incredibly talented, and respected individuals - John Polley and Corinne Austin. Through Corinne Austin, I was encouraged to complete John Polley's Next Level Mentorship to become a Movement Coach in August 2018. This opened my eyes to a whole new world. But I truly feel this is where I’m meant to be.

Knowing that I could potentially saturate myself in an industry swarming with traditional personal trainers, I saw this not only as an opportunity to differentiate myself early on in my career, but to also have access to education and a movement appraisal system that would help me not just move and exercise people, but to help them move better in general – to show them how to gain back a body that feels free and light. I have also carried out further education in ViPR training, Ph360 and Powerplate. I appreciate that everyone has a unique body and therefore has different needs. I feel like I’m able to offer them a whole new meaning of ‘personal’ in Personal Training.

Clients come to me to move better, to be without pain. There are so many people living in pain, thinking that this is their new 'normal' - when it really shouldn't be. Broken bodies can be helped – I want to be that person to help them reclaim the mobility, strength and energy that is rightfully theirs. I love to see changes in people,  I love to see people healthier and happier, striving in their own life.

I absolutely love my job, and this way of training people. One day is never the same. I really couldn’t be happier with where I am in this industry at the moment, and can’t wait to see how I develop in the future.

I also have my own personal website and social media channels where you will find a holistic approach to wellness - recipes, kids food, meal ideas, meal plans, healthy living, mindfulness, positivity, exercise, natural products and much more! You can follow me on www.niccimaree.com
